The Black Keys/The Six Parts Seven "A Blueprint of Something Never Finished split" - The Six Parts Seven have the first track followed by 3 live tracks by The Black Keys. The Six Parts Seven sound very dreamy, full, and lush. Nice layers of guitars and other instruments with no vocals at all. Pretty mellow stuff. This is quite the opposite of what you'll get with the Black Keys tracks. The Black keys are rough, raw, and stripped down. Just guitar and drums with a raggedy-voiced singer. The guitar is super fuzzed out and raunchy. Their style is heavily influenced by Junior Kimbrough and the other blues legends from the northern Mississippi area (not the delta) with perhaps a touch of indie rock. The tracks were recorded live on WMBR back in May of this year and they are killer. All tracks are quite good. Play it!!!
My Picks: 1, 2, 3

1) (The Six Parts Seven) Starts with echoing guitar plucks. Slowly comes in with the rest of the band. Very dreamy and laid back. Builds slowly adding more and more layered instruments. There must be at least 2 or 3 guitars, bass, piano, and drums. This is really full and lush. Instrumental.
2) (The Black Keys) Very quiet talking for the first 10-20 seconds. Then it comes in with serious dirty guitar. Solid midtempo that builds in tempo a bit with an odd syncopated beat. Very bluesy and rough. This song is off of one of their 7" singles. Wow!
3) Quiet talking at the beginning. Then some really fuzzed out guitar starts it off. Holy crap! This is the title track from the 2nd album. It's a little more rough and raw than the studio version. Solid midtempo that drags ever so slightly. Killer raunchy guitar solo in there.
4) Starts up pretty quickly. A bit more rockin' than bluesy and lighter. Still very dirty guitar. Slightly faster midtempo.
