COLL: Dutch Dance 2003 vol. 1
Label: Conamus/Dutch Rock & Pop Institute
This is a pretty cool compilation of electronica tracks from the Netherlands. I didn't care for the rave-y tech-trance stuff (the 140BPM stuff). But the electro/new-wave stuff is cool, the house-y stuff is cool, and so are the downtempo tracks. Try: 1,2,3,5,6,8,13,15,16,17.
1. the synths are so 80s! electro/new-wave, complete w/ robo vocals
2. mellow fem vox over a slow broken-beat
3. more 80s synths, complete w/ electro-beat & robo vox (think Kraftwerk)
4. 80s proto-techno/industrial, what sounds like EBM today
5. aerobicizer trance w/ big synths
6. tech-y house w/ a funky Chicago-style loop
7. bouncy progressive tech-y house/trance
8. harder Euro-trance typical Dutch style - but w/ some cool breakdowns
9. rave-y techno/trance - nothin' special
10. again, rave-y techno/trance w/ a really cheesy "roof is on fire" sample
11. Teutonic Euro-techno-wave w/ fem vocals
12. disco-tech-house w/ bumpin' bassline, vocals/lyrics are kinda cheesy
13. Latinized house w/ big horns & congas
14. chill house beat w/ mellow ambient synths
15. neat synth swirls on this track
16. mellow electro-flavored downtempo
17. like a trance/new-wave record on the wrong speed - but kinda cool
