Harold Ray Live in Concert -- Live
MC5ish soul-R&B-rock from Oakland. Thirteen covers of classic 60s soul/R&B songs with tons of energy -- hip-pumpin' mojo and saxophone honking and lots of grunts and screams. The live mix is a little off at times, but what do you expect? Sure, they're borrowing heavily from classic funk and R&B bands, but they rock! All the tracks are good!
1. spoken intro then, ripping version of "turn me loose", guitar overpowering
2. tambourine, rocks
3. classic r&b/soul
4. funky sax
5. great bass line
6. "ain't nothin' but a house party" -- slammin!!
7. several dramatic chords at beginning then
8. drums + guitar, then the band kicks in, lots of screaming and yelling
9. classic soul -- upbeat
10. slower funky beginning -- then more rock-n-roll
11. dance number -- get outta your seats!
12. great sax, "barefootin" orig by johnny winter-- excellent track
13. great! "25 miles" -- edwin starr
14. call & response with audience
