Spare instrumental arrangements of blips and beeps, with generous amounts of quiet. Wono pulls synthetic sounds together into pieces that become more eventful and varied with every listen. If you were to pull any one track out of the whole, try 4 or 6.
1. Cellphone touchtone beeps, radio fuzz, and mechanical clicks gradually fold together into a rhythmic soundscape.
2. Swooping harmonies from outer space rise to a chattering crescendo, then suddenly drop away.
3-6. 4-part sonata. #3: High-pitched dings mingle with subwoofer growls and quiet, suggestive, bouncing hums. Sometimes nearly silent, at other times all abuzz. Lively standout #4 gives way to #5's contemplative evocation of a temple bell being sounded. Wono mixes it up on fuzzy, brisk #6, an uncharacteristically busy track that almost belongs in a nightclub.
7. Hypnotic, meditative droning. Wono skillfully adds on more and more layers, building into a rolling robotic jam. --riana
