Some good loud & noisy “not-quite metal/not quite hardcore” fucked-up sounding stuff here. Either way, it’s really heavy, distorted & loud. Somewhere around: Slug, Unsane, godHeadSilo, Jesus Lizard, Hammerhead, Melvins, Rapeman, Dystopia, and maybe even Karp and some Slint-like jazz/prog-grooves.
The band is from Savannah, Jaw Jaw (err....Georgia) which ain’t such a ‘sleepy ‘lil Southern city now that these guys & Kylesa are around. Like leaches this one grows on you.
(((1))) Super-ugly mix of Rapeman, Slug, Karp & some twisted progged out structures & whatnot.
(((2))) A bit like old Melvins, a better version of Helmet (lots of riff riding here) and Dystopia (mostly the vocals) by the way of Slint(!?!)
(((3))) Up-tempo, demented & fucked-up sounding
(((4))) “Indie” sounding akin to Rodan if Steve Albini sang for them, lots of strummy guitars, super-mangled vocals. Jumps around a lot with the tempos & guitar volume.
((5))) Messed-up charging, loud & super short (only 6 seconds!)
(((5))) Lots of Bulb/Load Records sounding by way of Amphetamine Reptile & old Touch & Go bands (circa early ‘90’s) messed up psychedlic & indie rock gone a little heavy.
(((7))) Not too different than the previous song but a bit like weak track by 400 Blows or any track by the usually lame-oid The Locust.
(8) Ambient silliness with just vocals...
((((9)))) Proggy-indie with lots of screamy vocals & some psych guitars. Give a it minute or two to kick your ass. Trust me - it will! Mangled “Black Flag in a steel cage match with a whole herd of AmRep bands & J. Mascis’ fx pedals” kind of thing.
((((10)))) Loud/psych prog noodling then grarly, mangled vocals over more Load by way of AmRep label worship with a nod or two to snarling death/black metal vox.
(((11))) Incomprehnsible mess of vocals with rythmic chaos as if you heard: 400 Blows crossed with Shellac at Dystopia’s Oaktown warehouse party.
