CHARALAMBIDES ¥ Unknown Spin (kranky)
Charalambides are a Texan trio who play extended guitar and vocal improvisations. They are masters of utilizing space combined with psychelchia and folk senseabilities. Their music can be described as a sort of Dreamy raga with heavy use of melodic texturing. Very reminiscent of Loraine Mezzacaine Connors & some Thurston Moore solo work. Beautiful Stuff, PLAY!!! 1-(30:00) Beautifully textured guitars and sparse cymbol-like drones. Fem vocals come in, but they use the voice as an instrument (no words just melody). Song builds and changes over the course of the movement. Gorgous stuff!

*2-(8:30) More hopefull sounding. Guitar textures build into Fem vocals. Closest thing to a "song" on the record. Very Dreamy Ragga-ish.

*3-(9:30) Dark brooding guitar arpeggios with a almost catch reoccurring guitar melody in which the vocals pick up and use to build the song. Builds in intensity.

4-(10:00) 5:00 of beautiful Fem Vocal texture duet. Guitars enter and help build song to climax.
