Two long pieces performed by two different trios of reeds (a variety of saxophones and clarinets). Both pieces are in Braxton's "Ghost Trance Music" phase, which include long segments of prewritten pulses. The players hammer out a predetermined rhythm but have some freedom of the exact *notes* to play.

In these cases, the prewritten part is played at a fast stroll, nearly swinging. (Contrast this to the more bulky sound on Composition No. 286, found on the "Six Compositions" CD on Rastascan Records.)

Both tracks dive into some loose improvisation after several minutes. Track 2 gets near-silent on that point; the composition probably calls for that kind of empty-space exploration. Track 1 stays more busy and dynamic.
