Everyone’s favorite spoofy irreverent silly hilarious sample artist PLU teams up with WFMU dj Kenny G for some truly weird stuff. The first track is worth the price of the whole album, easily (and track 11, the redux). Originally broadcast on WFMU, sounds like they pulled a bunch of cheesy soundtracks, 70’s hits, and messed with them terribly, adding twisted voiceovers. Great stuff, though taken as a whole can tend to get tedious and really annoying. If you want a lesson in PLU though, look to her non-collaboration material (see Recyclopedia brittanica). Freak out your audience with this stuff, play track one and let the fun ensue. 1) Vagina! Absolutely hilarious, just play this sight unseen 2) twisting of an old blues record, etc, strange voice samples, sparse 3) romance advice, what girls want, jazz 4) McCartney’s “uncle albert” makes a twisted appearance 5) Carpenters’ “close to you” in there, weird 6) voice samples, obscure, screaming 7) more collage, screaming 8) more 9) “downtown” auf duetsch, with screaming, pretty annoying 10) dolly parton’s “little sparrow” sample 11) Vagina! Redux, with “leave it to beaver” type samples, irreverent, excellent, but gets a bit tedious in the end 12) funny samples “I’m a meat eater, a carnivore!” “gimme red meat…baby seals” “…worse than Hitler” 13) Ipanema samples, etc etc etc | ||
