This Bubba is somewhere around: Dinosaur Jr., (but less chaotic), Blue Oyster Cult (Listen to track 2!) , vocals like Paleface with a lot of ‘88-’92 era grunge/heavy indie rock. this is a young band. It’s just one of those basic rockin’ albums that you just like ‘cause it doesn’t require much from you, which is not a backhanded compliment as Deep Purple, BOC, et. al. work wonderfully in this realm. “Big dumb rock” that’s not well, that “dumb”!
(((1))) Rockin’ Midwestern boogie action with one foot in 1973 and the other in 1989. Sounds like he’s singing “Plastic Elf”.
(((2))) The riff sounds reminicent of BOC’s “Godzilla” in a way mixed with some feedback. Mid-tempo & rockin’. Lyrics deal with assholes how work as club security - you know the kind!
(((3))) Dino Jr. and early 90’s ugly grunge (Tad, early Nirvana) riffing. Straight-ahead but rockin’.
(((4))) Nice riffing jumping around from 70’s hard rock to heavier indie rock sounds. The strucure’s not all that great but the riffing - wow!
((5)) Slower tempo with a Killdozer meets Couch Flambeau sound. A little too redudant though.
(((6))) Jeez, is this from the Nirvana archives? Sounds a quite like them but with vocalsist who’s a J. Mascis without the whiney stoner vibe. Rather good!
((7)) Twangy yet rockin’ with lots of wah-pedal.
(((8)))Slow 70’s “white-boy hard rocker blues” tempo ‘ala Little Feat, AC/DC, etc. Funny lyrics!
(((9))) Bass-heavy, low-fi, grungey/heavy indie rock via Sup-Pop 1988-90 style. Again, more redundant lyrics, as if he’s pausing to find the next line but it somehow works out for the best.
((10)) Acoustic ramblin’ tune very early 70’s-like, sounds like something the Who might’ve left off of “Who’s Next?”.
((11)) Basic, grungey with some loud (is this called “reverb”?) vocals. Just kind of ‘there’.
(((12))) Sounds like Paleface’s “Burn & Rob” mixed with Sonic Youth, Couch Flambeau and Hammerhead. Basic but good bluesy/indie twang.
(13) Another acoustic rambler.
(((14))) Total Dino Jr. worship meet Killdozer! “Dumb-rock” that rocks like a near genius.
((15)) Super simple chords with a Midwest boogie-rock thing.
(16) Odd riffing (a note or two off from being heavy metal) with a wailng solo. Kinda dull.
((17)) Rambling, Dino Jr. meets Vertigo thing, pretty cool but not quite as loud/heavy as either of those bands.
(((18))) Shit, I wish the whole album was like THIS! Great riffing, a bit of a punk sounding with a strong AmRep & Touch N’ Go label(s) sound.
