Melodic and pretty, even though much of it is improvised. Kenny Wheeler hangs out with the British free-improv crowd (this CD is released on Evan Parker's label) but has gravitated to a softer, more song-oriented style, evidenced by his floaty/dreamy albums on the ECM label. This one's a lot like those, recorded with a cast of mostly unknowns, at the same studio over the course of 8 years.

- Soft, slow. Appropriately dreamy, very ECM-like.
- Trumpet/drum duet, a softly cooking piece
- Trio w/sax and guitar.
- Smoky romantic jazz w/guitar
- Gentle, w/piping flute
- Strayhorn cover, slow and sentimental
- Solo flugelhorn, starts sad & heats up
- Casually stormy jam w/the full sextet
