Charlotte Greig sounds familiar– her voice is very like Sarah McLachlan’s or Loreena McKennitt’s. There is a better comparison that I can’t think of. Anyway, her voice is pleasing and low. The music is largely guitar-based and has some resemblance to bluegrass. Very summery and pleasant. The lyrics are all pretty insipid, but not too important. I’d recommend this.

1) Oh Novelty– slow and pretty; guitar and harmonica in background 2) Stained Glass Window– female vocalist, a little faster than the previous one; nice to listen to; guitar-based instrumentals 3) Wind on the River– slow, wistful, quiet, peaceful; guitar-based with what may be the dulcimer in the background 4) Cotton Crown– also peaceful, but too much so; very solemn, slow, and dull; some guitar but mostly synthesized-sounding music in the background (melodica?) 5) Shallo Brown– very pretty, and Grieg uses some traditional singing techniques that are pleasing; solemn, but in a nice way; it picks up a little bit in the middle 6) Winter Woods– much more upbeat than the former songs; nice harmony with male backup; romantic and cheery 7) Twin Stars– slow song that recalls a lullaby or ballad; pretty; I don’t like the warbling, high pitched singing in this song, though 8) Wychanger– bouncy, upbeat song; lyrics are more interesting; sounds traditional, pretty, and cheery 9) Cuckoo– very different from other versions of this song that I’ve heard; much more ethereal and solemn; not my favorite version, but interesting 10) Heaven– song builds throughout; cheery and upbeat; strong chorus and harmonies
