Your Imaginary Friend Reviewed 2004-03-25 | ||
Wow, a guitar player’s wet dream: this instrumental trio concocts the finest mish mash of quality interesting chunky twangy melodic dissonant guitar music that I’ve heard since Fripp and Belew first reformed King Crimson. No wonder- these guys combined have been in illustrious bands that include Henry Cow, Art Bears, Pere Ubu, Thinking Plague, Hail. Just plain damn good guitar music, simple as that, interesting, super creative, kick ass. All songs excellent, radio friendly in length (note: entire cover, liner notes, are a spoof). 1) upbeat, dare I say quirky? 2) mid-surfy sorta, baritone guitar gone mad 3) upbeat, varied 4) nice melodic twang, deep bass, good twang 5) disjunct, all over, super chunky 6) upbeat surfy, twangy, whammy bars 7) slightly mellower, nice hip grind to it, ends skewed 8) western “train” rhythm and scathing twang, gets strange and soaring…? 9) fun melodies, Frippish/League of Gentlemen dancey quality 10) mnor feel, a bit darker 11) tom tom tribal surf feel 12) Frippian picking, crushing whammy, cool 13) strange surf 14) slow ¾, dark, strange 15) pretty, melodic, multi metered, sections 16) upbeat country twang |
