Mostly mainstream session featuring the late Thomas Chapin (an avant-garde NYC fave) on sax. Pieces get into extended bebop-minded spaces that have a retro feel but encompass some dynamite soloing, especially by Chapin. A comfortable jazz-club atmosphere overall. 1- Mid/fast chugging, Gets into some fast chattering sax soloing 2- Scattery and free, mid/fast 3- Slow, happy. More Spanish Harlem than Mexico. Includes some passionate sax from Chapin, with a fancy really fast twist at one point 4- Warmly bluesy and upbeat. Midtempo 5- Slow; gets into an open, mysterious space for the sax solo | ||
