Hey, a jazz protest song! Part of a package where various American musics seem to be the theme. There's also some traditional Blues and some free jazz, an interesting mix overall.

These are duets with Tsahar on sax and Cooper-Moore on piano, banjo, voice, and the homemade "diddly-bo" (a predecessor to the guitar -- see http://doctoroakroot.com/articles.php/diddly-bo).

As opposed to the ecstatic free jazz Tsahar normally plays, several tracks follow melodic themes and (gasp) normal structure, and they're quite good: 1, 2, 5, 8, 9. Don't miss 1 and 2 especially.

A change of pace for Tsahar with really nice results -- check it out, especially if you're not into the "avant-garde" thang.

1- Protest song! (with lyrics) Chugging rock beat. Squealing sax in the distance.
2- Back-porch blues, soft and relaxed. A content summer evening feel
3- Soft flute and warbling, ambient sax
4- Free jazz: Bright sax and drums
5- Sad piano. Feels like a '40s movie
6- Rapid squeaking sounds over calm guitar picking
7- Mellow tribal jam: drums and calmly wandering sax
8- Sad sax; a reprise of (5), with a bass-like instrument replacing piano
9- Twangy deep-south blues, slowly chaotic. Off-kilter sax later on.
10- Sudden piano-sax attack. Gets quiet in the middle.
