No, it’s not an extreme version of Van Halen but it is some more metal-core for you. Mostly metal and very little ‘core, though. It starts off just like several bands: Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, Coalesce, Diecast, and Unearth (who seem to be the largest influences but it’s not too bad. They also thrown in some pretty well-done politcal lyrics (although at times a tad too vague & in-direct unlike say, a DS-13 album). Nonetheless, song explainations in the booklet are always a nice touch. (Unless you play something you call “porno-gore-grind”).
(((1))) A pretty cool mix of Dillinger Escape Plan, Unearth & Converge but severe points OFF for the emo breakdown whine “3:34-3:59 WTF? Did someone mix some of Weezer’s unreleased album on this?
((2)) Sounds a fuck of a lot like old Cave-In (before they discovered Radiohead ....*puke*!) and Unearth. Some catchy parts but still pretty damn heavy. FCC “Fucking” 2:18; 2:30, “Motherfucker” 3:02
((3)) Heavy and mid-tempo and really some promising stuff. and then...Oy vey! That chorus has much too much ‘emo wuss’ for me on this. Otherwise they could’ve had a winner.
(((4))) Drill-press level of consistenceny, hammering & overwhelming batter of a singluar riff - all of which works very very well. (Aka: think the first Himsa album + chug-chugga that actually does something good).
(((5))) Wild guitar playing (check out the harmonics) mixing metal-core and some sort of AmRep rocking-action.
(((6))) More old Cave-In/Converge (minus the Slayer obsession) thing.
(((7))) Loud, fast & thrashin’ - need I say more? OK, there’s some melodic emo-ish (but this time not as awful as before) part but it doesn’t overtake the heaviness of the whole thing.
((8)) Typical “metal-core” lyrically and musically.
(((9))) Quite reminicent of old Himsa & old Cave-In. Some techical flares and a lot of up/down chunky breakdowns where some jerkoff in the pit goes around punching everyone in the back with brassknuckles.
((10)) A bit more of the same ‘cept a little different in the vocal dept. Sounds pretty damn confused to me. Good attack on the bullshit effecting whatever part of the ‘hardcore’ scene they’re supposedly part of. (Note: this actually ends at 5:23; after the ‘now that’s rockn’roll’ sample; there’s blank space until 9:55 where’s there’s a ‘bonus crap’ er...track which is basically a thrash-like tune mixed with Machine Head/Pantera. Ugh!
