Album Review

Odd, often mesmerizing post rock. Lo-fi, very warm, home recorded sort of sound. Stripped down sound, lots of melodic instruments play, and yet it still sounds very sparse. At its best it can be hauntingly beautiful.
Recommended tracks: 1, 9, 3, 5,

**1. Whispered vocals (Kristin Valtysdottir, singer from Mum guests), plunking guitars and bass, odd percussion arrangements. As stunning as it is gorgeous.
2. Wavering piano cascades, aching guitars and backwards sounding strings. Moves on into wailing guitar and synth loop territory. 10 minutes+, instrumental.
*3. More tinkling keys, this time with strummed acoustic guitar and male vocals.
4. Darker, mellower, mostly guitar. Soft male vocals enter.
*5. Organ carries the melody, mid-tempo, very chill.
6. Sparse, slow melody, mad drum machines come in. Some odd female vocals.
7. Acoustic guitars, distortion in background, handclaps. Instrumental.
8. Breathy vocals from the Mum singer and acoustic guitar, short.
*9. Features mandolin and an obscure Chinese string instrument called the ‘Cheng’, made of vibrating bamboo. Dark, eastern vibe.
10. Slow, wavery conclusion.
