Four reworks and remixes of Spanish (Portugese?) vocal tracks. The first cut is house cut, and the third is bossa-house. The other two, although remixes, lack beats and are really meant to highlight the vocals, which are all stunning. Everything here has a lot of energy, and is worth playing in the right set.
For dance sets: 1, but all tracks would work in a world set
1) Big build with beautiful vocals (Spanish?), clapping, and congas. Strong African rhythms and world feel. Electro-house feeling enters around three minutes in. The effect is really psychedelic and quite wonderful. Masterfully mixed. Clapping continues and becomes more complex, keeping the complex poly-rhythms going. 2) Minimal take on the same track. Lacks a real dance beat, but uses guitar, bass, and lots of random eletronic noise. Highlights the vocal, which are stunning. 3) Sweet sweet bossa-house. Nice guitar work, addictive vocals. Definitely a bit repetitive (they could have done more with other instrumentation), but a guilty pleasure none-the-less. 4) Re-work of the samba classic “Besame Mucho” (check out Joao Gilberto’s classic rendition, for god’s sakes!). Horns, guitars, and a large “cha-cha-cha” rhythm section. The track is a bit overdone for my tastes. Keep in mind, not a dance track.
