This is some nice “mellancholly metal” from some ex-members of the Orange County band Mindrot. Comparably speaking, this is a mix of Green Carnation, The Gathering, recent Amorphis, Katatonia and on other heavier side of things, they’re a bit like Neurosis. Mostly clean vocals with some more growling parts that come through as understandable.
((((1)))) A nice, laid-back mellancholic, sort of psychedelic number not too different from recent Tiamat or the mellower end of Katatonia. Some really awesome guitar work here to boot.
((((2)))) Heavy, apocalyptic sounds ‘ala Neurosis. Lots of thudding low end & groove + some rad breakdowns - ends with waves of ambience.
((((3)))) Amorphis mixed with Neurosis. Basic & catchy stuff. Well done!
(((((4))))) Gorgeous guitars with a general mood of longing & despair. Very much like Amorphis’ “Tuonela” album. Heartfelt yet heartbroken lyrics. If these guys were from Finland or Germany this would be a bit hit.
((((5)))) Starts off like The Gathering mixed with Katatonia. More excellent guitar sounds. More ‘ballad’-style but with a steady Neurosis feeling (as opposed to the taint of the moronic 80’s “power ballad” formula).
(((6))) Psychedelic ambience then thudding HEAVY groovin’ Neurosis-like doomscapes! (FCCs “Motherfucker”
1:08-1:09, ) the only downside is that this drags on a little too long.
((((7)))) Nice mellow guitar parts sounding like Amorphis crossed with Green Carnation then at 3:07 they turn into Neurosis! Did they magically clone Steve Von Til?
((((8)))) Straight-up apocalyptic heaviness sounding like a certain Oakland band on Relapse whose name starts with the letter “N”. AKA: A killer wall of sound & general massiveness ends with ambience and random voice samples.
((((9)))) Slow, catchy & ballad-y (but again NOT “80’s power-ballad” crap!) with a nice formula about longing for that certain someone - damn, how I can relate to this! A potential hit? Not in this fuckin’ Clear Channel media lovin’ land!
((((10)))) Strummy guitars with a nice psychedelic feeling then gets heavier. Totally catchy & rockin’ riffage + awesome vocals!
((((11)))) Epic-length etheral piece mixing November’s Doom, recent Neurosis’ tune “Stray” and Crowbar. Some nice mixing of introspective/mellow parts and doomy/heavy waves of riffs. Generally this seems to have a bunch of ‘dark pop song’ structures to it. This would make an for an beautifully bleak video. Ends with the sounds of rain.
