Iron and the Albatross -- s/t
Soundtracks for old silent movies/dark circus music -- GREAT!! -- a local ensemble with music composed by Ara Anderson. Very reminiscent of music from old mellodramatic silent movies with long-mustached villains tying a woman to the train tracks, along with calliopes, creepy reeling circus marches. Has similarities to Tin Hat Trio, recent Tom Waits. All tracks are recommended
1. calliope with pump organ and piano, dark fairy tale music, builds in intensity
2. starts quietly with pump organ, then sinister villain theme with cello, 2nd half of song is slower, meditative and has a Eastern European/gypsy theme
3. Playful, dark, dramatic, very cinematic, cello+ piano+baritone, changes speeds, great
4. dark, slow, strange noises, low cello+organ, builds to dramatic climax, quiet ending with quiet singing
5. Quick piano+drums, mellodrama movie theme, reminiscent of player pianos,
6. Quiet pump organ, slow waltz, Eastern European style
