A brilliant album that showcases music composed and performed by women from various parts of the world, in all their resplendent diversity. Each track is a gem. Women rock!

Track 1: What a lovely, lovely song. Trad. African rhythm with clapping + fem. choir

Track 2: Slow-tempo ballad with middle-eastern pipes and drums. Eerie lyrics (see liner notes)

Track 3: Traditional Welsh song with harp and beautiful, lowkey vox

Track 4: Typical Middle-eastern ballad, slightly more modern sounding than #2

Track 5: Sensual fem. vox. + choir with slow strumming on the guitar

Track 7: Nasal vox., festive and folksy composition

Track 9: Strong, raspy fem. vox. with male choir. Slow tempo with extensive orchestration (think Yanni)

Track 11: Peruvian tango!

Track 14: Live recording with brief intro in English by “mama Africa” herself. Well-known Jazz-inspired track sung in Swahili.
