Group of 2 guys Tucker Martine and Wayne Horvitz with all-star backing of Skerik(!), Bill Frisell playing some jazz. Some sounds like Tuatara, some more adventurous and repetative. The 2 play percussion and keys/synth and organ. There are horns in most of the tunes. The India-style viola is neat. Best parts have sax and flugelhorn. I liked 1,5,7,9. 1)swingin abstruse piano slows down and has slow fade 2) Phillip Glass-like sax obligato nonsense vocals 3) driving jam on guitar lick bluesy organ & banjo 4)down-home with misc laughs violin&steel guitar 5)wired out synth driven Jimmy Smith/H. Hancock 6)afro banjo/vox into jazz funk & back 7)slow toe-tapper on old Miss. worksong flugelhorn 8)driven by complex drum slow viola 9)2 note bass line | slowswing slowly mutates 10)loopy Kraftwerk/Synergy synth & flugelhorn 11)smooth repetion over loop drums 12)lots of organ chords then to slow sparse viola & organ - Gary | ||
