The Eternals-"Out of Proportion"
I would basically describe this as technoish, rock beats with strange vocal loops and sometimes reggae singing. The sticker on the back of the cd seems to emphasize that it is reggae, but with the exception of tracks #3 and 7, it just sounds like the Chicago instrumental band "Tortoise" to me. There are only 7 tracks, but most are 5 minutes+ in length. They are very experimental with their instruments. ENTIRE ALBUM IS CLEAN. Good tracks are #3 and #6.
1) repeating bass beat, female voice around 1:00, seems like an outerspace track.
2) starts w/ drums, male voice picks up around 0:20, vocals seem a bit faraway.
3) Good song- interesting drum patterns for intro, female vocal loop at beginning sounds like Bjork. Powerful reggae voice picks up at 1:40. Deeper voice at 2:30.
4) starts w/ what sounds like a helicopter lifting off. Bass holds main beat for song. Very repetitive.
5) slow, robotic-sounding female voice, giving boring instructions, only about a half a minute long.
6) Good song- starts w/ a nice drumroll, bass & guitar (I think) come in, male voice comes in a bit after 0:50, it is a bit drowned out by the instruments, sounds like internet dial-up at 4:26.
7) sounds like foreign woman leaving telephone message, keyboard (I think) at about 0:07, male reggaeish voice at about 1:00, has rhyming vocal section.
