60s piano legend Burrell returns with percussion master Cyrille and the ubiquitous William Parker. This disc has an interesting mix of traditional jazz (going all the way back to stride piano) and modern free sounds. The tunes here are more composed than free, but Burrell does a nice job playing with time signatures and tempos for a more improvisational feel. Excellent! *1.
