Sad indie folk. He sings like a gruff, congested Nick Drake, which sounds interesting, and nice. The accompaniment is almost always gorgeous, with swelling strings and pedal steel. He does seem to love those minor keys, but I have to say, the end result made me a fan, even when it gets morose.
The good stuff: 6, 12, 2, 8, 13, 5, 3, 10

1. Elegant piano and dark vox.
*2. Folk rock, with that little bit of twang. The solo is tight.
*3. Harmonica, upbeat.
4. Vocals cracked, dejected. And harmonica!
*5. Way more upbeat. Almost, dare I say, fun?
**6. Nice countryish vox over soft acoustic picking.
7. Another soft acoustic number.
*8. Upbeat, spunky and short, harmonica and all.
9. Laconic, wavering guitar and horns. FCC: fuck, 2:15.
*10. Up tempo folky shuffle.
11. Slower, really similar to an earlier song.
**12. Rocking, stronger beat. Major key! Single material.
*13. Very delicate. Nice.
14. Piano number. Bittersweet.
15. Darkly crooning, lovely pedal steel. Silence after 5:20.
Bonus Track: Starts at 7:35. Soft, acoustic, a wisp of a harmonica solo.
