This has to be the first hardcore/punk album I’ve heard from Portland that has no connection to the crust scene. These guys do play pretty fast and mostly solid, predominately East Coast styled h.c. Somewhere around Sick Of It All, Crumbsuckers (minus an overt metal sound) and even in some places - a little like Poison Idea. Toss in a bit of snarling street punk & you’ll have The Escaped. Some solid, punk/hardcore action, for sure.
(((1))) Rough & ugly punkified hardcore.
(((2))) Fast & almost d-beat like mixed with Oi! and a tad of East Coast styled breakdown along with sonar (?) effects. FCCs “our fucking lives”. Minus a few points for dragging on a little too long, though.
(((3))) Straight-ahead thudding then a lot of East Coast breakdowns. Something like a middling-to fair version of Intensity of Wolfbrigade mixed with Sick Of It All? FCCs “never fucking believe” “fucking face” both in the last :45 seconds)
((((4)))) Very rippin’ Oi! & mid-tempo ‘hoist your beer’ kinda street punk sounding. One problem WAY TOO MANY FCCs. SKIP IT!
((5)) Obnoxois diss tune against some woman. Totally FCC UN-cool with the chorus “you’re a fuckin’ cunt!” SKIP IT!
((((6)))) Nice Dead Boys-like riffing then fast Oi!/street punk & h.c. attack. FCC “There is no fucking escape” (2x)
((((7)))) Bad-ass Oi!/street punk with some killer riffing and snarling fake Brit accents in the mix, plus some tasty wailing solos!
FCCs (that are audible): “fuckin’ drinkin’, fuckin’ pissed”, (2x).
((((8)))) Rough & pissed off with some cool vocal parts (though mostly inaudible) the sound a tad like the Crumbsuckers meets Poison Idea! Plus, wailing guitars occasionally sounding like Venom or early Metallica. Crazy!
(((9))) Sounds a lot like UK Oi! style crossed with Fear & a hint of Swedish h.c. like the band Intensity. Great lyrics except...WAY TOO MANY FCCs
((((10)))) Roustabout Oi! style, drinkin’ tune which apparently is a cover of a song from the movie “Jaws”? Hmm... I don’t remember that part.
