Abstract free improv. Emanem Records' annual sampling of the Freedom Of The City festival, with musicians arranged in nearly random groups. Nice stuff, although many tracks have a tendancy towards navel-gazing (long quiet periods that don't play well on radio).

All tracks are long (10+ minutes on 2 CDs). This is the "Small Groups" issue from the 2003 festival; there's usually a "Large Groups" version each year, too, which features orchestra-like groups.

- TROMBONE/ELECTRONICS/DRUMS: Brash intro into a strange ghostly tunnel
- SAX/GUITAR: Choppy and fast/sparse. Gets busy in some spots.
- VOICE/VIOLIN: Quiet and groany; croaking female vocal
- SAX/BASS/DRUMS: Aggressive, with abrasive sax
- CLARINET/PIANO/INVENTED INSTRUMENTS/ETC.: Loud clatter with obligatory quiet stretches
- SAX/BASS: Nice duo. Lots of shifts between quiet and loud parts
- HARP/CELLO/BASS: *Very* quiet
- TROMBONE/ELECTRONICS/DRUM/KEYS: Even-handed: Clattery but in a calm atmosphere. Small, fast sounds. Often quiet.
