Album Review
Reviewed 2004-11-11
The team of guitarist Django Reinhard & violinist Stephane Grappelli created the finest gypsy swing music ever. Period. Here multi-instrumentalist Craven (and friends) gives that music a Latin, jazzy flair through the use of guitar, violin, percussion, mandolin and various other sounds and turns these classics into everything from tangos to meringues. Mostly instrumentals.

1. A sexy, lively Puerto Rican dance w/lots of perc/strings.
*2. A warm & bright little cha cha.
*3. Uptempo blend of strings/perc. Love the ukulele.
4. A sophisticated, jazzy midtempo dance. Romance abounds.
5. Piano/bass/strings/shakers. Relaxed w/a small jazz club feel.
6. Percussion-driven w/a Hatian feel & male vocals. Midtempo.
*7. Uptempo jazz w/hot sax/perc. Where’s my martini, Luis?
*8. Lush, slow, sexy bolero w/strong solos of piano/strings/flute.
9. Sweet & catchy waltz for guitar/folk harp/ukulele/mandolin.
*10. Fun little blend of clarinet/perc/strings/sounds. Odd, happy.
11. Fast contemporary Flamenco w/a nice swing & good energy.
12. Uptempo, bright. Horns come in, then steel drum then chorus.
*13. An elegant & lovely tango. Great bandoneon/strings.
14. Uptempo jazz jam for strings/perc/horns/ Nice & lively..
