Art Ensemble Of Chicago – Sirius Calling

The final recording of the AEC with longtime bassist Malachi Favors. The tracks here are short bursts of searching, exploratory improv and the wide array of instruments used gives this an exotic vibe. Good stuff, though a few tracks do end up sounding sloppy and unfocused instead of exploratory.

1. Loud, wild sax
2. Slow woodwind explorations
*3. Bouncy clarinet
4. Meandering group improv
5. Poetry start, then light groove
*6. Jazzy with great bass solo
*7. Chiming percussion
*8. Speedy free workout
9. Loping improv
10. More chiming percussion w/ flute starting halfway through
11. Chaotic improv
*12. Pretty ballad
13. Meditative ruminations
14. Eastern sounding percussion
