"In addition to being the world's foremost authority on toast, Dr. Toast also composes downtempo electronic music!" -from drtoast.com Wheat, buttered or dry, there's something for all tastes in this sometimes kickin' (1,6) sometimes sleepy (3,7) album. Part atmospheric, part blips & beeps, it maintains a meditative DJ Food sensibility, downtempo and slightly calm. Moments of lounge brilliance emerge in this chill psychedelic effort. Sparse voice samples, no FCC. Nice: 6, 10, 1 *1. Most upbeat of album 2. Groove armada feel 3. Echos, kickdrum & synths 4. "It's a beautiful melody" sample 5. Chugs along, jerky **6. The perfect movie soundtrack song 7. Spacy, soft samples 8. Dark and repetitive -- hypnotizing 9. Eh. Robotic voice, "We saw the..." *10. Subtle beauty, quiet start |
