Throw the Cramps, Phantom Limbs, Make Up, Ennio Morricone, Nick Cave and The Birthday Party in to a jigger and shake violently, pour over the cubed frozen blood of Phaedra. Awesome local release takes the “dark carny” (carnival, circus) feel of Cave/Waits/Limbs to another level by injecting raw Bday Party/MakeUp elements and embellishing it with twangy treated spaghetti western on acid guitar. Searing guitars, evil organ, chunky Barry Adamson bass, and desperate soulful male vocs. This is great. And you can quote me on that. 1) brief carny organ intro 2) Cramps’ish slow surf beat 3) upbeat evil carny feel, instrumental 4) slower swingy twangy dark noir 5) brief organ interlude 6) totally channeling Junkyard era Nick Cave/B-day Party smarmy dark swing 7) upbeat swing rockabilly w/ searing guitar and strange efx 8) 2 step gallop beat w/ carny organ 9) epic ballady, just vocs and guit w/treatments 10) instrumental, spooky drone leads into electrobeat, twangy guitar over disconcerting low end noise, backwards drums, wow! 11) quite beautiful spacey instrumental, backwards guits, nice efx 12) slow waltzy ballady, dark and twangy 13) cool noise, spooky if not brief 14) twisted ¾ triplet beat, crazy guitar efx 15) dark gothic scary experimental feel | ||
