Books On Tape "The Business End" – The latest from solo electronica artist Todd Drootin. This is mostly a lot of collage work layering lots of keyboards, drum machines, and various loops. There is plenty of noise in there too, but it almost always has a solid beat keeping the groove going. Most songs tend to be moody and dark with heavier bass sounds that come off as almost goth at times. All songs are instrumentals with the occasional vocal sample that is often processed so much that you can't even make out what the voice is saying. There's something for everyone whether you like electronica, noise, or weird layered loops. Check it out.

My Picks: 2, 5, 6

1) Faster midtempo with lots of musical changeups. A lot of different keyboards, some droning, some like bells. Dark and kind of jerky. Noisy percussion in there too with various drum machine sounds.
2)Blippy bells with dark bass-heavy beats under it. Fast midtempo that keeps a nice groove. Plenty of keyboard textures layered in the mix.
3)Solid midtempo with a nice drum machine beat and honks on top. Then some heavy bass lines are added. Again a lot of keyboard layers are added and then removed.
4)Starts quiet with percussion that has a tinny sound. Solid midtempo beat with some cool droning keyboards on top. Heavy on the percussion using sounds that might be sand pouring onto something, industrial sounding hits, scrapes on metal, etc.
5)Processed horns that makes everything sound slightly off kilter and kind of drunk. Midtempo. More processing and drums are added to the loop. Kind of goofy.
6)Faster midtempo with ominous blips and a dark moody droning background. At moments feels lighter in mood.
7)Pulses of quiet keyboards. Then beats are added in at midtempo. Somewhat subdued and mellow. Nice upright bass sound in there.
8)Ominous with a bit of a dragging midtempo beat. Dark and moody keyboards. Some weird stereo effects.
9)Slower and dragging with processed words that you can't make out. Dark brooding drones in the background with a lot of keyboard layers on top. Layers of the voices come in too.
