Junkyard neo-New Orleans jazz pop amalgam. Tom Waits, Reverend Glasseye, Reverend Horton Heat etc. Wild instrumentation, anarchic arrangements. This CD is a lot of fun. Good playing, singing. The lyrics are best when most bizarre. Rec. 1, 2, 5, 8, 9.
1)))) 110 bpm Begins with shout, then grinding guitar and organ, then evil children’s chorus. “Wearing that gorilla suit don’t scare me.”
2))) 65 bpm. Clattering sounds, then New Orleans style, clarinet, bells, children’s chorus. Sweet.
3)) 90 bpm. Synth, weird, barking fem. chorus, then squealing synth, xylophone. Male vox. Stops, starts half way through.
4) 30 s fragment. Male vox., sounds like it was recorded live.
5))) 100 bpm. Busy, nervous piano, screaming male vox., weird fem. response, trash percussion.
6)) 80 bpm. Opens with chaos, eventually settles down into pop song with synth, bells.
7)) 75 bpm. Dixieland stomp. Instrumental, nice little bite.
8))) 70 bpm. Space beeps, pirate vocals, maniacal waltz tempo, clarinet, stew of accompanying instruments.
9))) 70 bpm. Nice syncopated piano rhythm, then ¾ evil Dixieland.
10))) Brief clip of fake baroque music, then junk yard jungle, then space western, then weird.
11) 72 bpm. do-wop, with howled lyrics. At ~ 3 min, very quiet sea sounds. About 1 minute from the end, screeches from someone drowning in aforesaid sea.
