Matthew Shipp – Harmony and Abyss

Shipp continues his electronica fusion, an evolutionary step from his previous Blue Series albums. This disc puts more focus on the electronics, and certainly should have some crossover appeal to the indie electronica camp.

1. Dreamy, synthy opener
*2. Upbeat, dark electronic funk
3. Introspective composed jazz
*4. Slow stately Shippian frenzy
*5. Straight jazzy fast bop
6. A spacey trip
**7. Fast funky ethereal builds from piano start
8. Sparse free jazz
9. Dissonant electronic/tribal weirdness
*10. Swirls of electronics
