Sax-bass-drums trio -- free jazz with an accessible air. Most tracks have nicely complex jazz heads, a twisty modern kind of bebop. There's a genteel European air to the writing, although most tracks flash some wild abandon in the solos (7 is a great example). Carrier on sax is of course the star, spilling out plenty of lengthy, rapid-fire licks.

Fans of Steve Lacy or even Lee Konitz should feel welcome here. Really nice stuff that wouldn't be out of place on a mainstream jazz docket -- every track is a pleasure.

Every track mid/fast unless otherwise noted.

1- Mid/fast into playful boplike soloing
2- Tumbling theme, slows down a bit for soloing. Gets crashing.
3- Toe-tapping intro. Nice free-jazz feel with aggressive spots.
4- Loping mid/fast head, into a jazz walk and some great soloing
5- Quieter, still mid/fast. Pleasant. More strident second half.
6- Expansive, free feel. Slows down for cutely careful segment.
7- Mid/fast, energetic. Cute ballet-like opening.
8- Fast sax over light, buzzy background. Delivers fast bop soloing.
