COLL: Burmese/Fistula split CD (Crucial Blast) Burmese makes a bunch of noise - mostly on the harsh/power electronics side. Then they toss in a rather good grindcore number. Whereas Fistula is pure kick-ass sludge core/doom metal. Burmese is a little uneven but the Fistula tracks are all winners.
(((1))) Low ebbing then distorted filtered noise fades after about 0:35
((2)) Messy, noisy, zero-production noise-core scraps.
(3) Squeally, harsh, power-electronics ear-violations
((4)) Garbled, super short (0:15) noise-core
(((5))) Thudding, blasting noise
(FCC “fuckin” 0:18)
((6)) High pitched squeals (like a tea kettle) and various rumblings
(((7))) Bashing drums, super distorted voice (‘ala Big Black “Songs About Fucking” or early Unsane)
(((8))) Spaced out distorted noise and spoken word
((((9)))) Wonderfully fucked up noise rock & wasted grind/sludge noodlings.
((10)) Amplifier buzzing, then “ouch-worthy” painful power-electronics ‘ala Merzbow.
Fistula part
(((11))) Suprisingly mellow tones then ultra-warped sludge core with some dude coughs up after some B.O.R.B. (“Bongloads Of Righteous Boo”)
((((((12))))) One of THEE MOST bad-ass HEAVY ANYTHING tunes EVER RECORDED!!! Why? Killer vocals, awesome lyrics - you can apply this to many things in life but especially certain kinds of people, crushing riffage. Arrrggh!
(((((13))))) Mid-tempo and straight-ahead pissed off Eyehategod/Grief, 16 styled crusher with a KILLER gallop riff that kicks in at 1:40. Nice lyrics, too: “Maybe if you would listen - just SHUT your mouth!” Damn I wish I could crank this’un in downtown Palo Alto and aim it at the idiots aroud me!
((((14)))) Slow, unrelenting, pained & confrontantation that begins oddly enough with a more Spirit Caravan/Hidden Hand riff style. More “shut your mouth! Shut your mouth! and “you used to be so cool...now you’re just a fool!” Likely written about an ex-friend or girlfriend.
