No FCCs. A great, low-fi band. The best thing about the album is how simple it is. The group consists of a bassist, drums, guitarist, vocalist and a random keyboardist or kazooist thrown into the mix. The songs are all fairly short, but they are upbeat and really tie into lots of different musical genres. There’s lots of folk, sixties rock, some Elliott Smith type sounding stuff. A little bit of electronic type stuff. The album has a really great flow but uses some of the same riffs over again, making the entire album sound really similar. But it’s a good listen. Something everyone will like, but probably won’t have any really strong opinions about.
Track One: Starts off static-y. In the background, loopy electronica type sound effects. Calm guitar, folksy on top. Short.
Track Two: More singing than first track. Crescendo on chorus. Catchy. More traditional chord progression. No background electronica.
Track Three: Not normal bass and guitar line combination. Kazoo in background. Bass line carries melody. Lots of stuff going on.
Track Four: Scratchy voice. Good guitar line. Lots of drums. More 60’s rock-ish.
Track Five: Starts off like with little emphasis. Electric with voice, more distortion. Good. Keeps upbeat but slow.
Track Six: Less distortion, clearer voice. Guitar lines sound all the same. Cute sounding. A little like some later Fountains of Wayne stuff but only slightly. Upbeat use of guitars. Distortion around the end. Keeps light.
