Beautifully epic & slooooooooowwwww doom metal from Oakland. This features members of Dystopia and (the equally awesome), Weakling. This is a bit like Disembowelment or Therogothon mixed with Morgion (or in some places a metal-ized Codeine!) at 12 1/2 RPM. While not quite as slow as say, Skepticism or Earth, they creep along just nicely without the “funeral” appealation to box them in.
Overall, these are some very captivating sounds that are never boring or stale.
((((1))))) Some chilling cello notes which lead you down the trail of brooding riffs that work with melodic/sullen, vox. All of this later develops into a variety of classic doom styles. (The already mentioned bands along with a bit of Finnish bleakmeisters, Dolorian). It gets a tad “up” tempo (if that were possible for doom) Very cold, wide open & emmenating it’s glory...
((((2)))) Watery, echoi-ing death/doom with a mix of Dolorian and My Dying Bride. A little more on the traditional/early 90’s side of things.
(((((3))))) Damn! Now THAT’s a de-tuned riff! As slow as the first Cathedral mixed with an almost full DOOMED as DOOMED can be feeling ‘ala Corrupted. However they do march very slow for more than a few paces on Sabbath’s path with a Tony Iommi/Matt Pike (Sleep/High On Fire guitarist) series of riffs and even the solo goes that direction. This is a nice middle point for them to the first quest - to scale that colouss of a mountain or to more across that endless desert.
(4) This mostly pointless, untitled, ambient/low lying noise track doesn’t really being to appear until -9:21. I think it actually is there from the beginning but severly low in the mix.
