Chattery free improv with combinations of a variety of instruments (see back cover) for lots of different textures from track to track. Abstract stuff, a bit like a classical orchestra goofing off when the teacher's out. A few tracks break the mold with some composed beats, and they get into some nice grooves (4,7,16). 1- Mysterious tribal clatter. Slow. 2- Strong orchestra-tuning-up aggression. Opens with long tones. 3- Hyper flute-trombone duet 4- An actual beat! Nice mid/slow toe-tapper. 5- Upbeat flute with percussive clatter 6- Somber. 7- Six minutes of quiet, then a busy groove 8- Low-key coolness 9- Slow. Lots of growly horns. 10- Loose clatter 11- Bass drone; high piping sax 12- Busy 13- Eerie, breathy flute sounds 14- Careful sax-trombone duet 15- Eerie, cavernous 16- Nice jungle groove with a steady beat. (2nd half gets weirder.) 17- Quiet bells and tweaky flute |
