This is a French band that started off doing black metal and now does some crazed death metal. Now this is a bit techinical & melodic while still being interesting. They have a flair for some very 80’s style soloing and some literary influences from H.P. Lovecraft (lyrics) and Michael Moorcock (the band name). A very worthwhile investment.
(((1))) Yer standard, creepy intro tune.
(((((2))))) Loud, fast, and RAGING death metal like Morbid Angel but MA clone this is not. Some contemporary styled breakdowns & awesome soloing, too.
(((((3))))) More ‘groove’ laden like say, Darkane but after a few measures goes into some charging thrash death viciousness.
(((((4))))) Stacked riffing and a tempo the starts off like “Chapel Of Ghouls”-era Morbid Angel complete with some wailing Slayer/M.A. styled soloing. Lots of interesting variation.
((((5)))) Gothic/horror soundtrack intro melodic, modern death metal that’s (thankfully) filled with some originality.
(((((6))))) Bursting death/thrash brutality that starts with excellent riffing and a great “Rrrrrrrrroaaaarrrrr”. Then goes to mid-tempo but never stops the total crushing power shifting from Black Metal to Death Metal Heavy Metal. Fuck yeah!
(((((7))))) More dizzingy speed/black/death merged insanity! Supercharged headbangin’ madness and impressive soloing.
(((8))) They went a few steps down in the song writing but really it’s not that far down. Some more incredible Denner/Sherman-like soloing with sound not too far from a metalized “Stigmata” by Ministry.
((((9)))) Mid-tempo, angular tempo & rhythmic. The last minute & 1/2 completely captivates your ears with some wild fretboard work.
(((10))) Low-E string heavy ride then moves around like a slowed down Deicide or Grave but with a more idea in exploring their instruments all while not getting all that techinical.
((((11)))) Nice melodic/traditional metal riff cycle then thudding & thrashing, snarling death metal.
