Dark Tranquility - Character (Century Media) Dark Tranquility is one of the only of the “big three” (In Flames, Soilwork) Gothenborg bands that seems to have remained consistently good. Melodic modern death & heavy metal with touches of interesting keyboard parts and mostly good songwriting & riffs.
((((1)))) Right outta the gate melodic Swedish thrash. Hella gallop action!
((((2)))) Mix of thrash mid-paced contemporary snarling yet melodic DM
(((3))) Very ‘Maiden-ish mix with catchy vocal parts.
(((4))) Big sound with jud-juding riffs, stop-starts, sounds like the “single”. Pretty nice.
(((5))) Chargin’ melodic-death/thrash/heavy metal. A pretty good mix even with the lame pinch harmonics
((6)) Trad. metal (‘Maiden, ‘Priest) sound with thudding but very typical style melodic/extreme metal.
(((7))) More thrash - nothing mindblowing but good interplay between vocals and riffs.
((8)) Rhythmic, slow-to mid paced annoyingly catchy. Sounds like the German band Betray My Secrets
((9)) Loud riffs, plinky keyboards more ‘Maiden-ism mixed with growlin’ vocals.
(((10))) Big riffs with lots of sweeping keyboards then melodic death/thrash. Good albeit formulatic.
((11)) Slow intro with sad, winding notes, this really drags on & on..
