Craig Matsumoto Reviewed 2005-03-17 | ||
A mix of Euro-folk instrumentals and jazz. Very Euro/World feel, including accordion, that occasionally gets into crazy free-jazz-like solos. And no wonder, with well known jazzsters Don Byron (clarinet) and Ralph Alessi (trumpet) in the band. Fun stuff, play it all! Guiducci himself sticks to acoustic guitar throughout, for a peaceful organic grounding. Shows some nice jazz chops, too, on tracks like 4,7,9. 1- Slow intro 2- Celtic jig, playful, mid/fast. 3- Pastoral, calmer. Cute melody, builds energy 4- Chipper Italian folky melody. 5- Slow, sweeping. Grand strokes. 6- Balkan/Klezmer midtempo. Upbeat but not that fast 7- Slow; a cool jazz feel 8- Perky tangly modern sound. Slowish start 9- Strong relaxed flow, like the band Oregon. Fun accordion intro 10- Pretty, mid/fast, a crazy mix of soloing throughout |
