Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2005-03-21
Heavy guitar drone project from early 90’s, heavy dark sloooow amplified sustained chords. Two tracks, recorded live in NYC in 2002. The first is like Earth of old: just guitar. The second: joined by drums for a more psyche, stoner feel. This band (named after Black Sabbath’s original name) was originally a collaborative project of northwest freaks like Cobain, Melvins, Joe Preston, Dylan Carlson. Preston moved on to things like Thrones and is currently in High on Fire. If anything, this is close friend of Cobain Dylan Carlson’s band. Sunn((O)))) is associated persons (Preston, et al) and touts themselves as “An Earth Tribute Band”.

1) guitar chords, ~14 minutes of droney but somehow minor keyed distorted chords
2) long, ~1hr: low-fi drums providing a rudimentary beat and rhythm to guitar chords played similarly as above, after ~30 minutes slow tribal drums take over
