Steve Swell – Slammin’ the Infinite

Free jazz session from improvising trombonist Swell, here teamed up with NY saxophonist/flautist Sabir Mateen. The disc has a 60s vibe a la Roswell Rudd alongside more traditional modern bop. Excellent stuff.

1. Slow pace with world percussion and tribal flute
*2. Soft clarinet to start, gets loud and free
*3. Fast and busy
*4. Stop/start rhythm with solos, slows down at the end
**5. Fast head, then crashing solos and a bass solo ending
6. Slow, with swirling flute
*7. Chaotic invocation
