Money Changes Everything
Track One: Starts off w/ drums and bass. Very basic chord progression, a little ska. Male and fem vox. Fun, light-hearted, high energy.
*Track Two: Very nice beginning. Simple, really good bass line. Good lyrics. Lo-fi. Laid back, chill music. Some sexual content. Talks about “dry-hump.” But so good.
Track Three: Monotone vox, with just drums in background, but breaks down pretty soon after. Cute lyrics. Pretty fast paced. Very traditional, lo-fi band sound.
Track Four: Much slower. Pretty acoustic guitar. Really good lyrics. A little emo but more slow indie than anything else. Really nice builds and flow.
Track Five: Very simple background, with simple melody line. All about the rhythm. Picks up 40 secs in. Nice moral. Chorus is fast paced, verses are slow-down and simple. Fem vox always opens chorus with “one-two-three-four.” Nice basic rock-and-roll.
*Track Six: Cute, repetitive background melody. Very pop. Nice contrast between lyrics and melody.
Track Seven: Smoother guitar line, cool arpeggios, goes back and forth between complicated background and more hardcore bass. Kind of sad sounding.
Track Eight: Nice pick-up, high energy. Nice layering of vocals. Really good build and transitions.
Track Nine: Starts off Beach Boys early rock-and-roll. Very cute, bordering on cheesy.
*Track Ten: Starts off with talking voice in the background. More about the layering of vocals and instruments than words. Different melodies lots of exploration. Not as traditional as their other songs.
Track Eleven: Simple easy melodies. Very lo-fi. Kind of like the New Pornographers.
*Track Twelve: Starts off very slow. As usual, lyrics are genius. Nice androgyny. Nice builds and transitions between slow and fast parts of the song. Hidden track so 2:50 into the song is silence and at 3:47 comes back in again with weird ambient noise, and then simple chord progressions with the band fooling around in the background.
