Decca Reviewed 2005-06-02 | ||
Sophisticated, contemporary bossa nova featuring smooth, jazzy male vocals and acoustic guitar. Most tracks are original compositions by Fonseca, though there are a few covers (including a dishy Portuguese rendition of an Henri Salvador tune). Some tracks accented by percussion, piano, bass and/or flutes. 1. Slow, romantic, almost sleepy. Really pretty. *2. Relaxed and warm w/sweet use of flutes. Gently swaying. *3. Lazily jazzy. Very nice guitar/bass/perc/flutes/vox. Yum. 4. A gentle, romantic sway. Nicely melodic. 5. Percussion, voice, guitar. In English. Low key, nice drums. 6. Romantic slow dance w/nicely dramatic sound. *7. Vocal/guitar duet w/Jorge Drexler. Warm, relaxed, so good. 8. A bright & sleepy little dance. More wine, my dear? *9. Guitar/perc/sampled sounds/voices. Lazy & kinda fun. 10. A bit more upbeat. The flugelhorn adds a nice touch. 11. A man & his guitar. A broken heart. Alone under the stars. *13. A delicious jazz bossa nova. Sigh…. |
