Ambient minimalist electronic noise. He is Swedish and use to go by Morthond and Hazard. Nilsen often uses recorded sounds then manipulates them and exaggerates them. Each of these tracks is recorded in an open space outdoors and then is manipulated. A common idea is a distant but more obvious sound in the background and a buzzing drone in the foreground. Nice soundscapes that are easy to get lost in.
1. Extremely slow building, virtually silent for the first 3 minutes. Definitely not radio friendly. The 2nd half of the track has two distinct things going on. A buzzing drone and a slow low-end wave that comes in and out.
2. Sounds like static underwater. Or if you had contact mics on your shoes and you were walking through a forest. This slowly changes into a nice electronic drone.
**3. Close to blipping electronics but then he throws in some noisy sounds. This track is busier. This track slowly changes into a hiss type sound something like the sound of the mist from a waterfall with some nice oscillations going on.
4. Quiet oscillating electronics. Then a louder sound that sounds like a manipulated train whistle including a small Doppler effect. The loud noises go away, the earlier electronics get quieter and the track takes it’s time fading out.
**5. Quiet sounds that are a bit darker and more dramatic. Some scraping sounds. Ends very quiet.
6. The longest track at over 15 minutes. The first 6 minutes is very quiet. Lots more low end on this track. The 2nd half of the track is louder with a big low end drone and some very high pitched noises. The last 3 minutes are also very quiet. Not really radio friendly.
Good stuff. -mph
