MICE PARADE • Bem-Vinda Vontade (bubblecore)
I can’t stop listening to this record! Prog-Pop-Tropicallists Mice Parade put heavy emphasis on Rhythm. Songs center around Spanish tinged nylon stringed guitars syncopating with AWESOME jazzy progish drums and simple monotoned male vocals. MUM’s girly vocalist is featured a couple of times as well. Great changes and builds keep your head bobbing. Cool arrangements and an overall moody feel mixed with heavily organic rhythms help hit all the bAWD’s G-spots. Do me now! -tHE bAWD oF eUPHONy
*** (3:10) Moody guitar lines and gradually change with great stop drum groove and vocals. Awesome. One of my favs.
*** ( 6:54) Progy intro with MUM’s singer taking the lead. Heavy Spanish guitars come in heavy with a Flamenco feel. Great changes and awesome drumming.
** (3:41) comes out of the last song in an ambient way then turns My Bloody Valentine
*** (8:09) Another favorite track. Goes through many movements. Awesome Tropicalia hits in the middle. Totally Prog-pop
*** (4:46) Ok can I love this one too? Awesome moody swing. Guitar keeps main rhythm with Lo-key drum work filling in over the top. Great counter guitar melodies. Very very unique
** (5:15) Floaty keyboards into jazz groove. More upbeat. Drops into a great groove again with dubbed out drums very cool
** (4:34) MUM lady again which has a Notwist sound to it. Cool steel drum. IS that Neil Peart on drums? Cool
*** (5:42) Epic Guitar and drums hit right off the back. Almost off sounding, very very cool. Love it, god damn it!!
*** (1:35) Low drone starts and beautiful acoustic guitars sore over the top with bells. AWESOME!
