Fred Lonberg-Holm Trio – Other Valentines
Mellow, introspective chamber music from cellist Lonberg-Holm, the seeming aural equivalent of a gray late-winter day. The valentines here go out to a diverse array of modern musicians (as opposed to just Fred Katz like his last album (not at KZSU)). Beautiful and haunting, excellent stuff.
1. Light swing (Sun Ra)
2. Light and wistful (Cat Power)
3. Slow, mournful (Pink Floyd)
4. Introspective ballad.. sounds inspired by “Round Midnight”
5. Med tempo Nordic waltz, still subdued
6. Relaxed bounce
7. Soulful ballad (Gil Scott-Heron)
8. Mellow, searching (Wilco)
9. Pretty ballad
10. Relaxed, jazzy standard feel
