Modern jazz, funk, rock, and Afro-pop ideas sprinkled among nine compositions by local drummer Amendola. Two big-name guitarists -- Nels Cline and Jeff Parker -- spin complex jazz lines while violinist Jenny Scheinman makes the music really soar.

Great stuff. Accessible but deep -- most tracks take full advantage of this band to present intertwined layers of musical logic; let yourself get lost in tracks like 4 and 7. An able sequel to Amendola's previous album, "Cry."

- Sneaky and floaty. Opens w/coolly delicious bassline.
- Funky and bright, definite Afro-pop influence, fairly fast
- Agile, jazzy two-guitar intro. Scottish-field theme into solos
- Slow, lovely, with some bluesy moments. Very "ECM."
- Mid/slow rock, a tip of the hat to Crazy Horse
- Light, mid/fast
- Pleasant, mildly Latin, fairly fast. Really nice solos dominated by violin
- Midtempo, darkly rocking. Noisy insect-buzz guitar on intro and solo.
- Slow; both mournful and hopeful. Eerie ringing doom intro.
