Sidewalk-cafe versions of Kurt Weill songs and Weill-inspired pieces, performed in spare duets of clarinet and accordion. Has a jazzy freeness to it, although you won't find the surprising blips of wildness common in Trovesi's larger combos, although tracks like #4 push some boundaries. Nice stuff overall, Liner notes by Umberto Eco! Seriously. 1- Sly intro track, cute and clever 2- Slow 3- Lightly moody dance, slow intro 4- Creeping abstract improv 5- Upbeat with rich jazzy tones 6- Sad interlude 7- Balkan folky feel 8- Slow, lingering, dramatic 9- Jaunty jazz blip 10- Happy, Pink-Panther-like theme, into lovely peacefulness 11- Spritely 12- Slow and stately 13- Another Pink Panther theme into nice jazz riffs 14- Ballet-like waltz, mid/fast 15- Melancholy 16- Cartoony midtempo, upbeat 17- Slow, sad 18- Playful, sly take on "Alabama Song." A highlight. 19- Slow interlude 20- Moodier take on 18 21- Slow, sentimental with a wink 22- Small and sad 23- Dreamy, slow |
